Equifax breech: Here’s direct links to freeze all 3 credit bureau reports

Credit-cards
Concerned about the latest Equifax security breech that has affected nearly 150 million users? I was.

I read a helpful article that recommended placing a freeze on my credit reports, which makes it impossible for new credit lines to be taken out. That sounded like the safest bet and best bang-for-the-buck, rather than paying $10-30/mo for identity theft monitoring.

In about 10 minutes each, I had the freeze in place. Equifax was free to do so, and Experian and TransUnion charged me $10 each — but the fee depends on what state you live in and if you’ve been a victim of ID theft already.

However, the article I read didn’t give links to the 3 credit bureau’s “freeze” forms online, and that added to the time it took to place the freeze, so here’s all you need if you’d like to place a freeze on your credit reports:

TransUnion: https://www.transunion.com/credit-freeze/place-credit-freeze

Equifax: https://www.freeze.equifax.com/Freeze/

Experian: https://www.experian.com/ncaconline/freeze

Hope that helps!
